The 2024-2025 District Project, chosen by the New York District members, is… Doctors Without Borders!

Founded in 1971 in France by doctors and journalists, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) aims to deliver emergency medical humanitarian aid quickly, effectively, and impartially. Initially, 300 volunteers, including doctors, nurses, and logistics experts, supported the organization. They believed everyone should have access to high-quality healthcare, regardless of gender, race, religion, creed, or political affiliation.

Today, Doctors Without Borders has grown to over 68,000 staff providing more than 16 million medical consultations in over 70 countries each year. Despite this growth, the core values of humanitarianism, independence, neutrality, and impartiality continue to guide their work.

Founded in New York City in 1948, the Arthritis Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with arthritis in the United States.

As a major partner of the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), the Foundation works to improve health outcomes for children with juvenile arthritis. It also collaborates with the FDA to speed up osteoarthritis drug development and partners with the NIH to advance research on other types of arthritis.
